Commissioned in 2016 to develop proposals for a new Terminal Facility Building as part of a comprehensive site wide upgrade and expansion masterplan, various schemes have culminated in a single three storey building located at the entrance of the bulk liquid storage and distribution terminal on the north bank of the Thames in Dagenham.
The evolution of the building is a result of the complex variety of programme that the building is to house, serving as the central control for all site operations, the organisation and welfare facilities for all site-based engineers and operators, facilities for the interaction of third party contractors and delivery companies and overall administration of the site.
The diverse requirements were instrumental in determining how the building was to be organised, with the development of a ‘clean’ and a ‘dirty’ side each with its own circulation requirements and controls.
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham granted planning consent in 2018 and works began on site with Mountfield Building Group, as Main Contractor, in March 2019. The building is due for completion and occupation April 2020
