With the recent changes to Permitted Development Rights in respect of the vertical extension of existing 3-storey residential blocks promoting their upward extension we are exploring the potential that volumetric modular construction typologies offer.
This live project in Snaresbrook, is based around creating standardised 1-bed units out of just two modules, mirrored either side of the existing vertical circulation extended upwards. The existing blocks lend themselves very well to this type of extension, and across the whole development it generates 46 new units across 6 blocks.
